Padrón Cigars Inc.

In 1964, José Orlando Padrón opened a six-foot-wide business in Miami, with one cigar roller and a lot of guts. He sold cigars for 25 cents apiece, and slowly he built a business that has won accolade after accolade. Padróns have come a long way since the 1960s, and today they are made with a hearty blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos, much of it grown by the Padrón family. There are several lines of Padrón, from the modestly priced core brand to fancier versions utilizing extra-aged tobaccos that sell for $30 apiece or more. Padrón Cigars Inc. has won Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year three times.
