Metallica's James Hetfield • March/April 2023

Few in the music industry have matched the continued worldwide success Metallica has achieved for the last 40 years. The heavy metal band has sold more than 120 million albums, broken concert records and maintains one of the most diehard fan bases on the planet. This legendary group is headed by none other than James Hetfield, the hard-charging guitarist, lead singer and co-founder. Unsurprisingly, this musical powerhouse is a cigar guy. Cigar Aficionado sat down with him to talk smokes, his journey into music, his new cigar brand and much more. We also take a look back at the recent NFL season, dive into some intriguing Irish cocktails and offer a profile of the billionaire founder of PXG Golf, Bob Parsons. Plus, we have a detailed analysis of our cigar ratings from 2022, find out Wayne Gretzky's favorite cigar, review one of the earliest Cuban Regional Editions in our Connoisseur’s Corner series and offer 76 expert cigar ratings. Watch the behind-the-scenes video and sneak peek clip from our interview with Hetfield at the Metallica HQ.
