La Palina Cigars

In 1896, a Ukrainian immigrant named Samuel Paley opened a cigar shop in Chicago and began producing and selling a cigar brand by the name of La Palina. Thirty years later, Paley retired, and La Palina would eventually become a mass-market brand. In 2010, though, William "Bill" Paley Jr. revived his grandfather's La Palina as a premium cigar brand, naming the company La Palina Cigars. The first modern La Palinas were produced in the Bahamas in limited quantities, and the least expensive was $18. Despite the high price tag, the brand gained a following. Now La Palinas are produced in all the major non-Cuban cigarmaking countries, including Miami's El Titan de Bronze.
