Upgraded Daniel Marshall Anniversary Set Begins Shipping
Humidor-maker Daniel Marshall announced earlier this year an anniversary humidor set to commemorate his 38 years in the cigar industry, but an upgraded version that includes a gold-leafed cigar has begun shipping to retailers around the world.
Made in collaboration with Carlos Fuente Jr., president of Arturo Fuente Cigar Co., at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic, the Daniel Marshall by Carlos Fuente XXXVIII Anniversary Cigar is a 6 3/8 inch by 52 ring gauge torpedo. According to Marshall, the cigar is blended with tobaccos from Chateau de la Fuente, the same plantation that produces tobacco for the Fuente Fuente OpusX line.
The cigar is not intended for individual sale, but instead will be sold as a complete package with the Daniel Marshall Limited Edition Desk Travel Humidor, which is handcrafted from macassar ebony.
The new, upgraded set will now come with the following items:
- Seven Daniel Marshall by Carlos Fuente XXXVIII Anniversary Cigars
- One Daniel Marshall by Carlos Fuente XXXVIII Anniversary Cigar covered with 24kt gold leaf hand rolled by Marshall himself
- One additional Daniel Marshall by Carlos Fuente XXXVIII Anniversary Cigar to be tasted during the “Virtual Campfire with Daniel”
- One copy of 38 Years, a 110-page commemorative book autographed by Daniel Marshall
- Complimentary membership in the Daniel Marshall Campfire Club, where members will receive a cigar cutter, torch lighter and aluminum travel ashtray, along with an issue of the Daniel Marshall Quarterly magazine
The price for the set will range between $1,500 to $2,000 USD, depending on the country.
Each humidor is individually numbered and consumers will have the opportunity to reserve a specific number if they so wish. Marshall claims several celebrities have already reserved specifically numbered humidors such as No. 17 by TV personality Steve Harvey, No. 99 by legendary hockey player Wayne Gretzky, No. 1 by actor Andy Garcia, and No. 23 for basketball star Michael Jordan. The humidors will come with eight anniversary cigars but a removable shelf expands its capacity to hold 16.
While a total production number has not been released, Marshall told Cigar Aficionado that the single roller dedicated to producing the anniversary cigars rolls only 12 per day, a testament to the cigar’s scarcity. Marshall also stated that the reason he chose to celebrate this atypical anniversary is because he was 38 years old when his daughter Julia was born and because it’s also his favorite number.
The Daniel Marshall by Carlos Fuente XXXVIII Anniversary Cigar will be distributed in phases across 25 countries. The cigar will ultimately be available in 38 locations in total, each one to represent one year of Daniel Marshall’s time in the cigar business.
